The Footprint brick bolster is a heavy-duty chisel for cutting bricks and blocks. Its wide 100 mm blade scores and splits masonry cleanly with a few blows from a lump hammer. It is a trusted tool for bricklayers, builders, and serious DIY work alike.

Forged in one piece for strength

The bolster is fully drop-forged from a single piece of high-quality carbon steel, from head to blade. Forging the handle, blade, and head as one gives far more strength than forging the blade alone. A tapered neck adds strength at the point where lesser bolsters tend to snap.

A blade that keeps its edge

The blade is specially hardened and tempered, then accurately ground. This gives a keen cutting edge that lasts through heavy site use. It cuts bricks, blocks, and other masonry with clean, controlled splits.

Safer, longer-lasting head

A domed anti-mushroom head resists the splintering and mushrooming that comes from repeated hammer blows. This keeps the striking end safer and extends the working life of the tool.

Made to British Standard

The bolster is manufactured to BS 3066, the British Standard for bolster chisels. A high-visibility painted finish helps you spot it on a busy site.

Guarded version also available

This is the standard bolster without a hand guard. Footprint also make a guarded version (pattern 1237) fitted with an EVA hand guard to protect against glancing blows, if you prefer added hand protection.
