Choosing the Right Adhesive for the Job

Polyurethane wood adhesive, such as Alphachem's range, expands slightly as it cures, giving a strong bond even on slightly uneven timber joints. For metal work, an epoxy adhesive such as Loctite's all purpose range gives a rigid, load bearing bond that a standard adhesive cannot match.

            Frequently Asked Questions

What is polyurethane wood adhesive best used for?

Bonding timber joints, it expands slightly as it cures which helps fill small gaps and gives a strong, weatherproof bond.

What is the difference between an adhesive and a sealant?

An adhesive is designed to bond two surfaces structurally, a sealant is designed to fill gaps and create a weatherproof or airtight seal, they are not interchangeable.

Do you stock hi vis spray paint for marking or safety use?

Yes, including the Prossive hi vis fluorescent aerosol range in several colours.

What is an epoxy adhesive used for?

Bonding metal, stone or other rigid materials where a strong, load bearing bond is needed, such as Loctite's all purpose epoxy.

Do you stock weatherproof adhesive for outdoor timber work?

Yes, including Faithfull's Everbuild weatherproof wood adhesive.

Can you source a specific adhesive or sealant brand not listed?

Yes, tell us what you need and we will try to source it for you.
